A U.N. human rights panel has now, for a second time, found that Israel is committing genocidal acts in Gaza, this time doing so specifically since the “ceasefire” has been in place. They also say that Israel is committing crimes against humanity in the West Bank.

Here’s my full statement.

A U.N. human rights panel has now, for a second time, found that Israel is committing genocidal acts in Gaza, this time doing so specifically since the "ceasefire" has been in place. They also say that Israel is committing crimes against humanity in the West Bank. When we have a conclusive body of evidence in front of us, as we do here, I feel that I, as an elected official, have a moral responsibility to speak out. If our government still will not do so as a whole, that responsibility is even more important. This is why I originally did so in September 2025 and why so many Americans have come to the same conclusion on their own. My grandfather was murdered on a death
march from Mauthausen concentration camp in the last few weeks of World War II - my family knows the impact antisemitism can have when left unchecked firsthand. We must continue to stand up with a clear voice against the frightening rise of
antisemitism we're seeing at home and around the globe. We must speak out against antisemitism and hold Israel accountable for its actions. We can do both. We must do both. I want both a safe and secure Israel and a safe, secure independent Palestinian state. The fact is that the actions of the current Israeli government are not only not keeping people safe but are instead further isolating Israel on the world stage. In this moment, speaking truth and demanding change are the first steps on the path forward.
